Key points I wish I knew before I started affiliate marketing hoping you can use some insight.
1. Nothing is as simple as it seems with affiliate marketing
The step by step process to making money with affiliate marketing may be simple, but I wish I was told it is hard work. This is not trying to be pessimistic or negative. You may see a lot of 6 and 7 figure earners making it seem like it is so EASY to create a life-changing income with affiliate marketing. My friend… Nothing is as easy as it seems to make money online.
From the get-go, I wanted financial freedom, I am pretty sure you do too. Almost everyone I know in this space wants to get to that point of financial freedom with affiliate marketing. Which is fine, but understand that it is very difficult and that is the truth. Again, this does not mean that the process is that complex. But you’ve got to work hard and consistently work on it for it to start coming together.
2. You must give in to delayed gratification
When I was getting into affiliate marketing, I had very high hopes. I had unrealistic expectations of affiliate marketing and how much I was going to make and how fast I wanted to make it. And this is very common with people in this space. Again, the strategies shared are simple.
There are times I get frustrated for not achieving the quick result that I desire, But the truth is, there is a type of delayed gratification that is required if you plan to create success online. Unless you plan to lose your hard earn money to scam.
The reason why people quit before making headway in affiliate marketing is that they don’t understand delayed gratification. If you understand this, you will start to take massive action knowing that the result will come eventually. It may not be next week, next month or so… But if you have a vision, a sense of direction and you understand the potential of how much you can earn down the road, that should be more then enough motivation to keep you right on track to success.
3. Do not pay for traffic or ads until you learn how to run them.
Before you misunderstand me, paid ads can easily give you huge breakthroughs in your business, at the same time, paid ads can also wreck it if you don’t know how to use them. If you have a business and you plan to run paid ads to build it up, wait until you have a budget because it takes quite some money split-testing to know what really works for the campaigns that you run. More often than not, you are going to lose money first before you can figure out what works.
Split-test in your ad campaigns helps you identify what can actually make you money. Before you can clearly execute, you will lose some money in campaigns that won’t work. Therefore, If you cannot afford to lose some money running such tests, don’t do paid ads yet. because If you don’t test, you cant tell what ads will be profitable.
As I write about this, I wish I had invested in a course first…
At first, I lost a ton of funds because I thought I could figure it all out on my own. But I was wrong. I made countless dumb mistakes that cost me money and time. I did not know what I was doing.
So invest in a good course because in a course lies all the knowledge you need (usually step by step) to make smart decisions on a daily bases in your affiliate marketing. Whatever you apply in your business activities is what you know. you can’t give it what you don’t have.
If you cannot afford to pay for a course, get on youtube, you will find a ton of relevant courses that will cater to your needs.
4. Take massive action
It is one thing to take action… It is another thing to go all out. Looking back now as when I first started, I wish I took massive action on my goals. Where I wrote two blog posts, I wish I had written five or six posts per week instead. That being said, whatever the word action means to you, whatever you are already doing to promote your business, be it youtube videos, blogging… Whatever effort you already apply, do three times as much. Go hard at those goals. If you want to make it fast and quick, race towards your goals.
Creating content consistently is like planting seeds in and out of seasons. when harvest time comes, it comes back-to-back ceaselessly. It is simply a natural law. Populate the internet with your content and put it’s an algorithm to work. Do something every single day to move your business forward. It may seem like nothing is working at first. But if you keep at it long enough, results will come.
There are 2 categories of people in affiliate marketing, those wishing to be successful and those taking massive action that will impact their business positively. You don’t want to be the one who pitches tents around just consuming content. Switch positions and begin to create and produce content.
5. Keep the focus locked down on one strategy
I wish I focused on one strategy in the beginning. I use to just be all over the place on the internet.
If you want to do social media, stay focused on social media and conquer it first. If you feel great as writing blog posts, stick with blogging and double down on it. Of course, there are cases where you want to use several platforms to gain wider coverage, which in my opinion is not necessarily true that the more platforms you market on, the more success you have.
I know a lot of people might disagree with this. But I recommend sticking to one first until you break even before you add another one. Especially if you are not getting the kinds of results you want in your business.
6. Don’t quit!
I wish to keep at it and not quit!
Don’t quit… don’t let go of your business before you even get a chance to be successful as it.
Get motivational books from authors you connect with and daily charge up to work harder and take massive action. If you are like me who does not like books much, I recommend podcasts and videos. But do what works for you and stay motivated.
